The Bed and Breakfast Murders
Trudy Moncha is excited about the opening of her Bed and Breakfast, The Pink Lady Slipper. It has been hair-raising since the death of her mother and her sister being put away for the crime, but Looney Linda was too touched in the head and Trudy came close to losing her life. With all she had been through since her mother’s death, her job being a rodeo clown shaking off bulls was calmer than what she faced returning home. After inheriting the B&B, sister Linda was not too happy and wished to destroy everything. But Trudy and her good friend, Alexandra, braved it all and came out winning. Not too soon after its opening, strange things once again begin to happen and it appears someone else wishes to shut it down permanently, but who and why? Once the guests begin to arrive, right along with a blizzard, they are soon cut off from the outside world. When a guest, labeled the Amazon woman, turns up dead in the kitchen of The Pink Lady Slipper, the police are called in. When they’re needed not just for this murder but another, Chief Hahn would just as soon see the B&B burnt down and the land smoothed off to extend to the cemetery since they are once again being inundated with more bodies. Trudy and Alexandra are up to their eyeballs wondering who to suspect this time. Linda is locked away for a lifetime, so they are certain she isn’t behind it. Or is she? With danger lurking around every corner, even Trudy and Alexandra are not safe. Determined to find out who is behind the murders, will they have to pay with their lives before the killer is actually caught? The Bed and Breakfast Murders is dynamic, spellbinding, and edge of your seat entertainment at its best. Each time I thought I knew who the killer was, something stirred the elements, making the plot thicken and jumping toward another character. The plot is definitely thick and the reader cannot help but be baffled until the dramatic conclusion. The segment with the dogs had me really squirming in anticipation. Billie Williams has skillfully composed a mystery that will captivate the reader from beginning to end. Ms. Williams pens a story that is one remarkable read and leaves you begging for more. She is an exceptional storyteller! Reviewed by: Linda L Title: Bed and Breakfast Murders Author: Billie A. Williams. Publisher: Wings ePress ISBN: (elec) 1590884884 (print) 1590887050 Genre: Mystery You'd think a Bed and Breakfast in the country would be peaceful, especially during a blizzard. However, The Pink Lady Slipper is anything but peaceful. The B&B started life as a brothel and something of that life remained even after it changed hands. It reached its present status when owner, Trudy Moncha's mother was murdered and Trudy inherited it, tainted past and all. New guests arriving to spend some time in the winter, to enjoy sleigh rides and other winter activities or so it is supposed to be. But, it doesn't happen. The guests arrive along with a blizzard and the B&B is effectively cut off from the outside. Trudy is fortunate to have friend Alexandra and two hired hands to help out during this stressful period. Her guests are a strange group, all traveling together. Three are men without tongues, a woman who gives no name, and a man calling himself Marquis. Things go smoothly enough until the woman is murdered, followed by other not so nice incidents. Not a tale for the easily frightened to be reading on a dark night when they're alone. Every creak in the house will have you jumping. You'll be on the edge of your seat when things start happening, wondering what will happen next. A well told tale by a talented author that will have you looking for other books she's written. Enjoy. I sure did. Anne K. Edwards |
