| Meet Billie A. Williams
I can’t remember when our house didn’t have books everywhere. We were a family of readers. When I spent long solitary summers on my grandparent’s farm in Morse, WI I fabricated stories to tell to my siblings when they visited or when I went home. Those were the times when I wasn’t reading. My grandmother would take me to the library in Glidden, WI once every couple weeks. I would bring home as many books as I could carry. It didn’t take me long to read them. I didn’t start to write seriously until much later in life. I took many correspondence courses but never drummed up the courage to send anything in. I did write for the Nicolet College Newspaper when I worked and took courses there. My first paid publication was an essay published in Thema Magazine in 1997 titled “Dandelion With Angel Wings,” about my youngest daughter’s survival through my bout with Ovarian Cancer while I was pregnant with her. Then I had a poem accepted for a national magazine. It seemed that gave me the self-confidence to start writing and submitting stories I had in my mind but not on paper yet. My first novel was published in October of 2002 and the rest, as they say is history. I now have eleven books published and nine more under contract. I still write everyday. I have several works in progress at all times. I love to write. I can’t imagine getting paid to do something I love as much as writing. It isn’t a lot of pay (yet), but it is a very rewarding way to spend my time. Billie A.
