How To Write a Book Report Continued         Page 2
Think about you and your personal (your own) experiences.  Could you relate to any of the characters in the story? (That is does their adventure or problems sound similar to ones you have or have had?)  How did you feel?  Did you feel the same as the character in the story?  Did you get out of the problem the same way, or would you try his way if you ever get in that situation again?

Now comes the fun part.  You get to give us your opinion (how you felt) about the book. Did you like it?  What was your favorite part?  Do you have a least favorite part?  If you could change something in the book what would it be? (Don’t give away the ending though if that was the part you would change – don’t tell us how it really ended.)

Would you recommend (tell others to read) the book?  What type of person would like this book?

There you have it your book report is done.  You can be proud of your accomplishment.

If you really like the book you can look inside the front pages of the book to find  the publisher’s page and find an address to write to the author to tell them how much you have enjoyed the book.

For example a book I have here is Flashback by Nevada Barr, the publisher is G.P. Putman and Sons, part of the Penguin Putnam Inc. line of books their address is 375 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10014.  If I wanted to write to Ms. Barr to tell her how much I liked her book or even send her a copy of my book report, I could address it to her “in care of” her publisher.   The publisher would see to it that she got the letter.  My envelope would look like this:
